ANV Mid-Year Update
The Latest on ANV Operations and Impact
Dear Friends,
I am delighted to share the latest updates and accomplishments from Arlington Neighborhood Village during our 10th Anniversary Year with you.
In the first half of 2024, we’ve seen steady growth in membership, volunteers and requests for assistance and for financial aid.
- Membership has grown from 393 members at the end of 2023 to 426 members as of July 1, an 8% increase.
- Our Discounted Membership Program for older adults with lower-incomes has seen an increase from 137 to 168, a 23% increase. Seniors with lower-incomes are now 39% of ANV membership. Our partnerships with Culpepper Garden, APAH and other senior residences are key to this growth.
- Volunteers have fulfilled 2,130 service requests — a 96% fulfillment rate. Transportation requests have increased by 9% so far this year.
- 79 new volunteers have joined ANV to help their neighbors age in place!
A major accomplishment is the launch of the new Community Ambassador Program—built to increase awareness and use of the many support services available to older adults in Arlington.
In heartwarming news, we finished another successful year of friendship and intergenerational connections forged through our pen pal program which matched ANV members with 42 students at Campbell Elementary for a year of good, old-fashioned snail mail exchanges.
Important organizational updates include: the January 1 move to our new offices at 4000 Lorcom Lane; preparation for a new database system to streamline requests, member and volunteer data, and reporting; and being one of the 22 non-profit organizations in Arlington to receive a County RACE to Rebuilding Trust and Community award.
In the coming months, we will conduct Member and Volunteer Surveys and hold ANV’s annual All Hands Meeting to gather feedback and get the village’s input and guidance on strategic priorities to better serve our community.
I’m most proud to emphasize that ANV volunteers, partners, and staff continue to step up and greet the opportunities and challenges of growth with open hearts and smiling faces.
ANV owes its success to each and every one of you who donate, volunteer, and believe in our mission. We are incredibly grateful for the tremendous show of support from our 10 Year Anniversary Donors and Sponsors. Thank you for being a friend and partner in the effort to enhance aging options and for your ongoing dedication to our mission.
We look ahead with optimism and excitement for the future of ANV as we grow strategically to respond to the needs of older adults in our community.
Warmly,
The Power of Planned Giving
A planned gift is more than just a different way to donate.
It’s a statement of who you are, what you believe in, and what you want your legacy to be.
Participation in ANV’s Legacy Circle makes a lasting impact. When you make a planned gift to ANV, you join a group of like-minded neighbors committed to investing in the village to ensure that caring support for aging in place is available in Arlington for years to come.
These strategic gifts are for everyone–no income level or group is excluded from the chance to make a change.
