Celebrating 10 Years of Community, Connection, and Service
Arlington Neighborhood Village was established in 2014 by a group of friends looking to answer their own questions-How can we continue to live here in Arlington, in the homes and neighborhoods we love, as we age? What community support do we need to remain independent, but not alone?
After ten years in operation, our Village has answered those questions for more than 800 members, thanks to the support of hundreds of volunteers and coordination of a small staff. From providing practical help like transportation, errands, home chores, and tech support to hosting social activities like our weekly speaker series, bocce, games, happy hour, and tai chi sessions, Arlington Neighborhood Village has connected older adults with their community, enabling them to live independently in the place they call home.
More than a service provider, our Village is a lifeline, forging bonds that engage, enrich, and empower older adults. Together we are creating an Arlington where older residents of all abilities, races, cultures, and means can “age in place” with dignity and autonomy, connected to a vibrant, caring community.
Our growth from a fledgling experiment to a trusted network is a tribute to the efforts of our visionary founders, multi-generational corps of active volunteers, committed community partners, dedicated Board members, and talented staff. We’ve taken the Village model and become a model Village, privileged to look back on our first ten years and energized to look ahead to the future.
Together we’ve harnessed the power of neighbors helping neighbors to make a decade of difference for all.
