Sara has lived in Arlington for over 20 years, first in Fairlington and now in Rivercrest, with her husband. After receiving a BA from McGill University in Montreal and a JD from Columbia Law School, Sara spent almost 25 years as a litigator specializing in employer-provided health benefits, pensions and 401(k) plans, first at the US Department of Labor, and then at multiple large law firms. After leaving the practice of law in 2022, Sara became a trained arbitrator qualified to resolve disputes through the American Arbitration Association, completed the Arlington County Police Department’s Community Police Academy, attended Arlington Neighborhood College, and trained to become a member of Arlington’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). She is also a certified instructor for SAIL, a fitness program designed specifically to help older adults maintain strength, flexibility and balance. Sara has volunteered with ANV since May 2023 and looks forward to expanding her involvement with and knowledge of ANV and the community it serves.
