ANV Turns 8!
April marks eight years of operations for Arlington Neighborhood Village. ANV was born in 2014 from discussions of a small group of Arlingtonians on how to remain in the community they love as they aged.
Today, more than 200 ANV volunteers are supporting more than 360 older adults with essential services and social supports that improve their quality of life and health and well-being.
We have many impressive stats on ANV’s impact, but the most gratifying evidence is in the words of our members and volunteers:
ANV became a stronger organization during a challenging global pandemic—increasing our membership, volunteer corps, funding, and the diversity of our village.
Our organizational stability allowed ANV to be agile and respond to needs of our community. ANV deepened partnerships and sought new collaborations to strengthen the social safety net for seniors. Volunteers were steadfast in stepping up and serving our members. Our donors and friends gave to support our Financial Aid Fund and made it all possible.
In January of 2022, ANV volunteers received a COVID Heroes Award from the Arlington County Government for their steadfast commitment to helping seniors get through the pandemic safely.
At ANV, our long-term vision is to become an essential service for Arlington seniors aging in place in all parts of the County and at all income levels. Older adults need support to age well and ANV is prepared to provide that support on an ever-growing basis.
We know we can achieve this vision because we have incredible members, dedicated volunteers, skilled staff, a wise Board of Directors, committed community partners, and loyal supporters—all working together to make Arlington home for a lifetime.
Thank you to our community for eight wonderful years of service, growth, and friendship. Each one of us plays an important role in continuously improving our village and we can’t wait to see what we will accomplish together in the coming years.
Stay well,
